News Update! January/Feb 2018

News Update!
Well, we have had the busiest January ever. What an amazing 6 weeks it's been and It's important for me to remember everything, but the last six weeks has been such a whirl wind that I need to write it all down..! and take stock of everything! Hope that's okay with ye!

We had amazing gigs St. Patricks Cathedral (Sold Out!) at Temple Bar TradFest to the The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall at Celtic Connections.
From Singing a song and having a chat on RTÉ Radio 1 with Panti Blisson 'Pantisocracy', to winning a LiveIreland "Best Emerging Artist Award".
Getting featured on the cover (still can't believe that!) on the Irish Weekend, and then to featuring in the international magazine Ireland of the Welcomes... to even getting a tiny photo in The Scotsman (we managed to sneak in!)
Being on the telly singing a brand new song on RTÉ Today with Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane, and then having the chats with the gorgeous Elaine on TV3 (and i got to meet Robbie From Fairly City)
Appearing on music TV shows for TG4 as part of Temple Bar TradFest, and on BBC Two in the North for Celtic Connections..
Which are all coming out later in the year... (Yis will be sick of me ha!)

And being part of Showcase Scotland at CC was amazing seeing all the talent out of Ireland, and being very proud to perform alongside such incredibleness. All the amazing musicians we met (I won't tag them, for their sake, but they were all really really brilliant).
Thanks Culture Ireland for the support.

Thanks to every single body for the help and support and to my lovely band of lads Eamonn, Cathal, Conor, and especially Andy for being there all the way.

For the time being now, We are taking a break in February to write, reset, and rest. But more on that another day.
Beir Bua xxx

p.s. love yis x Happy Valentines Day x

Her sublime voice is a thing of beauty that stops people in their tracks. Fragile and ethereal one minute and strong and vibrant the next, Dublin Folk singer-songwriter Aoife Scott has become a force to be reckoned with on the Irish folk and traditional scene.

With an impeccable pedigree as a member of the legendary Black Family, which includes her mother Frances and her aunt Mary, Aoife is steadily rising to the top of the traditional and folk music scene, while garnering acclaim and recognition both here and abroad as she hones her craft.

2017 has been a hugely successful year for Aoife. Following the successful release of her song "Grace", with her cousins Danny O Reilly and Róisín O, which went straight to #1 on iTunes charts in March, and having headlined Folk and Irish Festivals all over the world – which includes Port Fairy Folk Festival (AU) The National Folk Festival (AU), Milwaukee Irish Festival (US) and Temple Bar Trad Fest Dublin (IE)

The December Letter is a song written for a loved one or family member who can't be home for Christmas Time. It is a heart lifting thought sent out to all who have emigrated from Ireland, delivering memories with the binding warmth of an Irish Christmas.

Notice from The Irish Folk Music Awards :

The winner of our Single of The Year award for 2016/2017 is All Along the Wild Atlantic Way by Aoife Scott. Aoife is from one of the great Irish musical clans, The Black Family. Her excellent debut album Carry The Day is a blend of superbly interpreted traditional folk songs such as The Hills of South Armagh, as well as her own compositions with her writing partner Enda Reilly. All Along the Wild Atlantic Way takes the listener on a breathtaking coastal journey along the West coast of Ireland. Like so many great Irish songs, it sounds like it has been around for years. Aoife remains true to her Rathlin Island and Dublin City musical heritage, an integrety and talent that has seen her embark on a 9 week tour of Europe and 2 American tours this year.

Sold out Dublin Show

What a night we had in Dublin! Thanks to all who came along and sang songs with us!

The Debut Album is available now on iTunes/Google Play/Amazon Music and directly from this website here!

"From the family that brought you two of Ireland’s most treasured singers, Frances Black and Mary Black, please meet Aoife Scott, daughter of the former and niece of the latter, the next generation. On her debut album, Carry the Day, Scott adopts the great Irish folk preoccupation with interpretation, carefully curating an album of songs that were either penned by herself or those she encountered that triggered personal reflection and meaning. The result is an album both modern in its youthful vibrancy and yet thoroughly traditional in its methods and its themes such as the social injustice with Aoife’s own 'We Know Where We Stand' - a timely examination of the Irish identity or Si Kahn’s What You Do With What You Got (made famous by true-blue Scottish folk legend Dick Gaughan)

Carry the Day is a feel-good album by an artist not afraid to express her sense of wonder. Ireland itself acts as a muse to Scott, it’s language (she is bilingual), its history, the beautiful landscape of the West and the special spots of her hometown Dublin.

She draws upon family and friends such as her brother Eoghan Scott, writing partner Enda Reilly, and musicians Conor Lyons, Michelle O’Brien, Eamonn De Barra, Cillian Doheny and Floriane Blancke - all incredible traditional musicians in their own right - to perform on all the many songs. Picturesque Stories, that Aoife tells so well.

The album has been led by the already travelled "All Along the Wild Atlantic Way", a melodic pop poem to the stunning coastal trail along Ireland’s western seaboard which has joined the likes of Ed Sheeran and Hozier at the top of the iTunes singer-songwriter charts."

Aoife is a terrific singer who has given us a gem of an album. The songs are wonderful and so is she.

I am so so chuffed to have someone who I've looked up to all my life to be there to send forth my long awaited album into the universe.
Feeling very very lucky smile emoticon
